God’s word is the foundation for our mission and for our philosophy of education at Longwood Christian Academy & Preschool. His truth governs what we do and why we do it. Our philosophy begins with the belief that our precious children are a blessing from God, and as such, we are to train them in the ways of God. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
Our children are taught that the sovereignty of God is visible in everything they see and do. God has created and sustains the heavens, the earth, and all life on earth. This doctrine is woven into every subject we teach and every activity we provide. We believe our lives should be Christ-centered in all phases, and we hold to the Christian worldview. Our teachers know that a child values himself to the extent he or she is loved and disciplined through Christian values and Biblical principles. Every decision and choice our children make has consequences for which they are responsible. If the habit of good choices and good decisions is taught and modeled early, “when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Our teachers instruct our students that wealth and earthly goods are not important nor do they have eternal value, but working toward a relationship with God and faith and trust in the saving power of Jesus Christ are to be sought and cherished. All of our staff encourages these principles in all of the children in our care. Children enrolled at Longwood Christian Academy & Preschool are held to high standards of self control, good manners, and respect for those in authority over them. We teach them to respect and love themselves and their fellow students.
Administration and staff seek to partner with parents in the fulfillment of these objectives. We provide many opportunities for parental involvement at Longwood Christian Academy & Preschool, and we encourage all of our parents to take advantage of these opportunities.
