Preschool and VPK (Voluntary Pre Kindergarten) have become an integral component of the Christian learning experience. Longwood Christian Academy and Preschool will serve your family well as we integrate Christian values and doctrine into your child’s early curriculum. We have assembled a dedicated, experienced group of teachers to care for, nurture, and instruct your children as we prepare them for the next level of instruction. Our VPK program is state-sponsored, and therefore is tuition-free for this half-day morning program. Our afternoon program is complementary to VPK and is tuition-based. The afternoon program, titled VPK with Enrichment, is designed to develop grade-school skills and prepares the little ones for their elementary school years.
Our mission is to instill in our students Christian beliefs and Biblical doctrine to help them to form the basis for future behavior and thought. This school unashamedly believes, teaches, and practices a literal interpretation of God’s Holy Word. If you do not agree with our Christian mission, beliefs, and practices, it is probably best that you not enroll your child at Longwood Christian Academy and Preschool. If we teach a biblical truth or doctrine during the day, and the child sees or hears something in conflict with what we teach, it will be very confusing for him/her. If, however, you embrace doctrines and values in the Bible and agree completely with our statement of faith, LCAP could be the very best school for your children and your family.
Our primary goal is to teach our children the path to Salvation through the saving grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We also want them to learn Biblical Truths, to explore the world around them, become accountable for their own actions, and live a life of repentance. Through these goals, our students develop habits of good behavior, correct decisions, patience, compassion, and respect for authority. Our preschool education will prepare our students for elementary school.
We blend the best of two worlds of curriculum with A Beka series (Pensacola Christian College) and the Wee Learn series (LifeWay). Elements of these two programs are customized for each student. Children learn best by participating in different activities. Playtime, experiential learning, and structured activities are all utilized for a well-rounded presentation for learning.
The preschool years are a the ideal time to cater to the child’s strong desire to explore, seek new learning, try new things, and absorb as much as they can. We want to facilitate this, as parents should do in the home. Literature and Bible-story books further enhance the child’s learning experience.
Chapel services are scheduled every Monday, and they last 20-30 minutes. Staff members lead the services , which consist of Bible stories, prayer, songs, and object lessons. Parents are welcome to participate as visitors or guest speakers. If any parent wishes to participate, please contact the office.
The Preschool program offers gymnastics class for the two, three, and four-year old children in the Enrichment program. Gymnastics is provided through an outside instructor, and it is included in a parent’s tuition. This program provides a playful, age-appropriate 30-minute class for each age group on a weekly basis.
We celebrate holidays, birthdays, Valentines party, and special occasions. Teachers plan classroom parties for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Parents are notified of classroom celebrations and they are encouraged to provide supplies. However, the school cannot allow food or drink which was made at home. Only store-bought, unopened food and drink will be distributed to the children. Please keep it simple and low in sugar. Invitations to a home birthday party are allowed only if the entire class is invited. Exchanging birthday or holiday gifts in the classroom is prohibited.
All students participate in a Christmas program held in the church sanctuary, and we invite family and friends to our childrens’ events.
From time to time, the Academy will invite visitors to present a program for staff and students as an enrichment to our curriculum. These visitors might include firefighters, police officers, mail carriers, Dentists, Nurses, clowns, petting zoos, etc. Parents will be notified if any additional fees might be incurred.
